Payment gateways in Bangladesh: what merchants should check before choosing a provider
iGaming Solutions Asia Editorial Team · October 25, 2026

A practical checklist for Bangladesh merchants evaluating payment gateways options.
What this page covers
A payment gateway sits between your checkout and the money your customers pay. In Bangladesh the practical question is usually which local options a gateway actually connects to, what it costs, and what you must show to be accepted as a merchant. This page sets out what our directory has verified for Bangladesh, what it has not, and the questions you need answered before you sign anything.
What our directory has verified
Seven provider profiles carry a Bangladesh market coverage record. Each record was created from the provider's own website or a staff check, with a date attached:
- **SSLCOMMERZ** - official website sslcommerz.com; Bangladesh link recorded by staff verification on 10 August 2026. - **bKash** - official website bkash.com; recorded from the provider website on 11 August 2026. - **Nagad** - official website nagad.com.bd; recorded from the provider website on 11 August 2026. - **Upay** - official website upaybd.com; recorded from the provider website on 11 August 2026. - **ShurjoPay** - official website shurjopay.com.bd; recorded from the provider website on 11 August 2026. - **aamarPay** - official website aamarpay.com; recorded from the provider website on 11 August 2026. - **PortWallet** - official website portpos.com, with the coverage source recorded at portwallet.com; recorded from the provider website on 11 August 2026.
A coverage record tells you one thing: our research team linked that provider to the Bangladesh market using an official source. It does not tell you that the provider accepts your type of business, that it holds any particular permission, or that its terms suit you. Where a field is missing, the profile says "Not publicly disclosed" instead of guessing.
The list is not a ranking. We do not score these providers against each other, because a fair ranking would need comparable verified data on pricing, onboarding and support, and our records do not hold that for every provider yet.
What our records do not cover
Before you shortlist anyone, note that for most of these providers the directory does not yet hold verified data on:
- transaction pricing, setup charges or monthly fees - settlement timing and the currency funds arrive in - the documents a provider requires to onboard you - which business categories a provider accepts - regulatory status or permissions held
Treat each of those as an open question, not a negative answer.
What to check with each provider
1. **Start from the official website.** Use the website link on our profile, which was checked against official evidence, rather than a search ad or a reseller page. 2. **Ask whether your business category is eligible.** Acceptance rules differ, and this is rarely published. Ask in writing and keep the reply. 3. **Request the merchant agreement.** Read the fee schedule, reserve or holdback terms, chargeback handling and termination clauses in the actual contract. 4. **Check developer documentation.** Look for a test environment, webhook or callback support, refund handling, and the currencies and card types supported. 5. **Confirm settlement.** Ask how funds reach your bank account, how often, and in which currency. 6. **Ask what happens when something fails.** Timeout handling, reconciliation reports and support hours matter more than a launch-day demo. 7. **Check the regulator's public site.** Bangladesh Bank publishes information on payment systems and mobile financial services at https://www.bb.org.bd. Use it to form your own view on authorisation questions; our directory does not state that any listed provider holds a licence. 8. **Keep records.** Save the date and source of every answer you receive.
Compare before you commit
You can open any two to four provider profiles in the directory comparison tool. The comparison shows only verified fields, each with its source date, and marks missing data instead of filling gaps. It is a quick way to see which questions remain open for each provider.
If you represent one of these providers, or you hold an official source that corrects our records, use the correction form on the provider profile. Each submission is checked against its source before anything changes.
This page is general information for merchants and developers. It is not advice from a qualified professional on your specific situation.
