iGaming Solutions Asia cover: Cross-border payments in Bangladesh: what merchants should check before choosing a provider

A practical checklist for Bangladesh merchants evaluating cross-border payments options.

What this page covers

Selling to customers outside Bangladesh, or paying a supplier abroad, raises questions a local checkout never asks: which currency you are paid in, how the money actually leaves the country, and who is permitted to move it. This page sets out what our directory has verified for Bangladesh, and the questions you need answered before you rely on any provider for cross-border work.

What our directory has verified

Seven provider profiles carry a Bangladesh market coverage record: SSLCOMMERZ (staff verification, 10 August 2026) and bKash, Nagad, Upay, ShurjoPay, aamarPay and PortWallet (all recorded from provider websites on 11 August 2026). Each of those records says only that the provider is linked to the Bangladesh market on the strength of an official source. None of them says the provider handles cross-border collection or payout, and our directory does not claim that any of them does. Where our records are silent, the profile says "Not publicly disclosed".

The three questions that decide the arrangement

**Currency and conversion.** Ask in which currency you will be paid, who sets the exchange rate, and what margin sits inside that rate. Two providers with identical headline fees can cost very different amounts once conversion is priced in.

**How funds move.** Ask whether the provider pays into a local bank account, whether it supports payouts abroad at all, and what permission it says it holds for cross-border flows. Ask for the official page or document that states this, not a sales summary.

**What you must show.** Cross-border work usually carries paperwork: invoices, shipping or delivery evidence, buyer details, or a description of the goods or services. Ask which documents the provider expects from you and which they expect from your customer, before you build the flow.

What our records do not cover

For these providers the directory does not hold verified data on cross-border pricing, payout currencies, settlement timelines, supported corridors, or authorisation status. Those answers come from the provider and from your own bank, and they should be recorded with a date.

A verification routine

1. **Ask which corridors are live today**, rather than planned, and get the list in writing. 2. **Ask what the buyer and the seller must each provide** before funds move. 3. **Ask how long a payout takes**, what causes a hold, and how a held amount is released. 4. **Check the regulator's public site** at https://www.bb.org.bd for published material on payment systems and foreign exchange, and form your own view on what applies to you. 5. **Confirm with your bank**, because the receiving bank's practice often decides what is workable in reality. 6. **Test with a small amount** before you send anything that matters. 7. **Keep the dated replies.** In a dispute, the written answer and its date are the evidence. 8. **Get advice from a qualified professional** on your own situation; this page is general information.

Where to look next

The Bangladesh country page lists the providers our directory has recorded for that market. Open two or three profiles, place them in the comparison tool, and use the correction form if you hold an official document that answers one of the open questions. We check every submission against its source before a record changes.

A note on the wording you may be given

Sales material often says a provider "supports" a method or a corridor. That single word can mean anything from a live, settled flow to a documented intention. Ask what supports means in your specific case: is the corridor live today, is it live for your business category, and has it actually been used by merchants like you. That question costs a provider nothing to answer, and it keeps you from building a checkout on top of an arrangement that does not exist yet.
