iGaming Solutions Asia cover: Merchant onboarding in Bangladesh: what merchants should check before choosing a provider

A practical checklist for Bangladesh merchants evaluating merchant onboarding options.

What this page covers

Onboarding is the process that turns a signed agreement into a checkout that can actually take money: documents reviewed, a merchant account opened, a test environment issued, and a live approval granted. It is also where most merchants lose weeks. This page sets out what our directory has verified about the providers recorded for Bangladesh, and what you should ask each one before you start.

What our directory has verified

Seven provider profiles carry a Bangladesh market coverage record: SSLCOMMERZ (staff verification, 10 August 2026) and bKash, Nagad, Upay, ShurjoPay, aamarPay and PortWallet (all recorded from provider websites on 11 August 2026). A coverage record means our research team linked that provider to Bangladesh from an official source. It does not describe the provider's onboarding process, its document list, its review time, or whether it will accept your business. Where we hold nothing, the profile says "Not publicly disclosed".

What onboarding usually involves

Across the market, the same five stages appear in different shapes:

1. **Application** - you describe the business, the website, the expected volumes and the kinds of customers you serve. 2. **Document review** - registration, tax, bank and ownership records are checked, and the website is reviewed against what you said you sell. 3. **Agreement and fee schedule** - the contract sets pricing, reserve terms, chargeback handling and termination conditions. 4. **Integration** - test keys, documentation, callbacks and refund flows are wired up. 5. **Live approval** - the provider moves the account out of test and allows real transactions.

Ask at which stage your file stalled if it stalls. "Under review" without a stage tells you nothing.

What our records do not cover

The directory does not hold verified data on any provider's document list, review time, rejection reasons, reserve policy, or the business categories they accept. Those answers must come from the provider, in writing.

Questions to ask before you start

1. Which documents do you require for my specific business type? 2. Who reviews the file, and what is the typical time from a complete submission to a decision? 3. What causes a hold on funds once I am live, and how is a hold released? 4. Can I integrate and test before the account is fully approved? 5. What happens if my business category is rejected - is the reason given in writing? 6. Which payment methods are enabled at go-live, and which arrive later? 7. What is the support route when a payment fails outside office hours, and what are those hours?

A routine that saves time

Prepare one folder with current registration, tax and bank documents, a written description of what you sell, and the website address. Send the same questions to two or three providers so you compare answers rather than sales pitches. Check the regulator's public site at https://www.bb.org.bd for published material on payment systems and mobile financial services, and form your own view on what applies to you. Keep every reply with its date. Get advice from a qualified professional on your own situation; this page is general information.

Where to look next

Open the Bangladesh country page in the directory, then place two or three profiles in the comparison tool while the reviews run. If a provider gives you an official document that answers an open question, submit it through the correction form on the profile and we will check it against the source before the record moves.

One more thing worth asking

Ask who your account is escalated to when a payment is disputed or a payout fails, and what the expected response time is. A provider that cannot name an escalation route is telling you something about the support you will receive after go-live.
